Prerequisite:
Module 1: Fundaments of Rigging (by Schram Crane) MUST be successfully completed prior to taking this course.

DURATION: 4 HOURS

Chapter 1: Safe Operation of Overhead Cranes

• Overview of different classifications of Overhead Cranes.

• Overview of components and detailed descriptions of the Overhead Crane.

• Learn proper pre-operation inspection with a detailed description of what to inspect and how to inspect.

Chapter 2: Hazards of Operation

• Learn of the hazards to operation and improper use of the crane.

• Review of overhead crane accidents and common failures.

• Learn proper operation techniques.

• Learn proper hand signals for Overhead Cranes.

Final Exam

Crane Practical to follow final exam. The practical will include:

• Each operator must demonstrate a clear and thorough pre-use inspection.

• Each operator must perform a rigging inspection and develop a plan to lift given load for practical.

• Each operator must perform their lift and safe operation is to be graded by the instructor.

Students will be given instruction and guidance to perform each task, however they must be able to complete these exercises and achieve a passing grade of 70% to pass. Certificates issued are valid for 3 years from the date of training.
